PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION The primary purpose of this position is to lead, manage and grow a diverse team of specialists in the Creative Services function within the Marketing and Corporate Communication Services Department (MCCS) of Bank Windhoek. Responsible for providing ultimate creative guidance, vision and direction for the Bank Windhoek and Capricorn Private Wealth (CPW) brands by distilling abstract business concepts and client needs into refined, elegant creative solutions. Responsibilities include managing creative and digital projects from concept to completion, quality control and translating the Bank’s marketing strategic objectives into innovative creative strategies, approaches and executions.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAS)

1.    Overall Creative Services Framework

Responsible for creative leadership and the overall development, coordination and review of long-term creative resource management framework including: 
-    Drive creative effectiveness and impact to support business strategy
-    Development, implementation, and maintenance of creative and copy strategies for the Bank Windhoek & CPW brands 
-    Champion diversity of thought and inclusive storytelling in all creative outputs.
-    Build a world-class creative culture that attracts, retains, and develops top-tier talent.
-    Pioneer AI Integration within the creative ecosystem to ensure future-fit readiness 
-    Assist in the implementation of Service Level Agreements and of long-term policies
-    Reporting and feedback to Executive Office: MCCS 
 
2.    Operations Management (Creative Services) 

•    Approval of marketing campaign and Adhoc briefs into the Creative Services Unit.
•    Analyse brand tracking, market trends, consumer need, and the competitive landscape
•    Develop new and improve existing systems and processes to work effectively
•    Oversee day-to-day operational efficiency, accountability, and effectiveness under Traffic Management
 

3.    Creative Guidance and Execution

•    Build, lead, and review work of the creative team in the production of all creative and digital marketing collateral
•    Manage creative team in the development of marketing campaigns, ensuring quality to meet business objectives
•    Development of business-critical marketing campaigns and present creative campaigns and approaches to business and Executive: MCCS 
•    Champion new ideas and harness opportunities considering ROI and ROE
•    Improve output quality by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes and recommending changes to art, copywriting, and production departments.
•    Oversee visual language evolution and multiple projects from concept through to completion 
•    Interpret, integrate and communicate insights on the target audience and business issues
 
4.    Brand Compliance Management
•    Ensure all-around compliance of creative material to all Bank Windhoek brand elements including corporate and visual identity and brand value proposition
•    Oversee Corporate Identity evolution in collaboration with Capricorn Group Brand Team 
•    Ensure quality control over concepts and projects for brand consistency
 
5.    Strategic Development Support

•    Collaborate with the marketing and Capricorn Group entities in developing marketing plans, analysing results, and identifying opportunities.
•    Cascade and translate MCCS Marketing strategic pillars into actionable Creative Services KPIs
 
6.    Digital Marketing and Advertising

•    Oversee the implementation of the Bank Windhoek and CPW Digital Marketing and Advertising creative strategies, visual language and concepts
•    Oversee digital and social media content calendar execution as per digital marketing strategy and ensure effectiveness
•    Ensure a “digital first” approach is adhered to where possible within the MCCS department
•    Ensure ‘right content for right channel’ approach is adhered to
7.    Production and Supplier Management
•    Oversee production schedules and delivery is met by Production Manager
•    Recruit, manage and brief third-party design and related firms/suppliers as well as internal design resources
•    Onboard and supervise critical supplier relationships and management
•    Ensure quality control and cost effectiveness on production collateral 
 
8.    Team Management

•    Supervise a cross-functional team of graphic designers, copywriters, social media and digital specialists, photographers/videographers, and project manager
•    Ensure that the right talent is appointed, mentored and developed 
•    Manage and evaluate staff performance and initiate appropriate training and development of staff in line with their personal development plans 
•    Instil staff discipline and continuously inspire creative brilliance.
•    Ensure the well-being of staff and motivate them to deliver projects at an optimal level
 
9.    General Duties

•    Must be willing to perform any other reasonable and lawful duties as assigned by the management and ensure that it is performed on time and correctly.
•    Facilitate and support MCCS department ways of working/process improvement activities.
•    Participation in the MCCS management committee activities

•    AI Tools: Co-Pilot, ChatGPT, Midjourney, Adobe Firefly (as applicable)

Minimum requirements

Experience/Knowledge & Skills
 
•    At least ten years of experience in a creative leadership position within the advertising industry accompanied by a portfolio. Creative awards and accolades are a plus.
•    Minimum of three years experience in managing a creative department and a marketing team
•    At least three years of experience in the financial industry
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
•    Knowledge of graphics and design fundamentals
•    Strong working knowledge and experience in design, brand management, creative processes and AI
•    Proven technical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite on a Mac OSX platform.  Additional creative and project management software knowledge is an advantage.
•    Ability to operate independently at a high level and perform well under pressure
•    Excellent planning and organising skills
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Excellent listening and decision-making skills 

Qualification 
 
•    Grade 12 
•    Degree or Diploma in the creative field or relevant experience
•    Post Graduate qualification in creative leadership or strategy will be an advantage
