Introduction
To lead and manage the agricultural banking division for the Grootfontein /Tsumeb / Otavi area and ensuring the delivery of specialized financial services to agricultural clients. The role focuses on strategic growth, client relationship management, credit oversight, and team leadership to support the bank’s agricultural and small commercial portfolio
Job description
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with agricultural and small commercial clients.
Understand the unique financial needs of farmers and agribusinesses.
Provide expert advice on credit, investment, and insurance products tailored to agriculture
2. Credit and Lending Oversight
Process agricultural loan applications. Approval done within framework.
Monitor loan performance and ensure compliance with credit policies.
Collaborate with Branch Managers & Credit Managers to manage portfolio quality.
3. Strategic Planning and Growth
Drive growth in market share and profitability within the agricultural and small commercial segment.
Develop and implement strategies aligned with the bank’s agricultural strategy.
Identify new business opportunities and expand the bank’s footprint in rural areas.
Stay current with latest technological and other agricultural developments
4. Team Leadership and Development
Lead a team of support staff.
Provide training and mentorship to staff on agricultural finance and customer service.
Conduct performance appraisals and support career development.
5. Operational and Compliance Management
Ensure that branch operations serving agricultural clients run efficiently.
Maintain compliance with banking regulations and internal policies as well as regulatory and government policies.
Oversee audits, risk controls, and reporting related to agricultural finance.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with internal departments (e.g., credit, legal, marketing) to support agricultural initiatives.
Represent the bank at agricultural events, expos, and community meetings.
Build partnerships with industry bodies, cooperatives, and government agencies.
Minimum requirements
QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field
Minimum 2 years of experience in agricultural finance or retail banking.
Strong understanding of agricultural economics and rural development.
Drivers licence
