Manage and oversee the Accounting Department’s operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, policies and principles. Drive efficiency, accuracy and risk mitigation across all financial processes.
Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial & Accounting Management: Oversee accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, reconciliations and month/year-end closure. Ensure accurate reporting, compliance with IFRS and effective internal controls.
  • Vendor & Debtor Management: Maintain vendor relationships, monitor risk, resolve queries and ensure timely collections and payments.
  • Asset & Inventory Control: Oversee fixed asset functions, insurance and inventory processes in line with best practices.
  • Fleet Management: Oversee motor vehicle fleet operations, insurance claims and compliance.
  • Client Service: Ensure prompt resolution of queries and deliver excellent customer service.
  • People Management: Lead, train and mentor staff; manage performance and development.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Provide timely financial reports to senior management and Board, support audits and ensure adherence to tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Other Duties: Execute any reasonable and lawful instructions from management.

Minimum requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • BCom Accounting degree with completed articles (Chartered Accountant qualification will be an added advantage).
  • 5–7 years’ experience in financial accounting, including 5 years in management.
  • Strong knowledge of VAT, IFRS and financial systems (SAP experience will be an added advantage).
  • Advanced Excel skills and excellent communication abilities.
