Introduction
The Estates Administrator is responsible for the effective execution and administration of deceased estates in accordance with the Bank’s internal policies, procedures, and relevant legislative frameworks, specifically the Estate Administration Act 66 of 1964. This role ensures the accurate financial management of estate accounts and provides expert interpretation of wills in compliance with the Wills Act 7 of 1953. The incumbent plays a critical role in safeguarding the interests of beneficiaries and ensuring the timely and lawful settlement of estates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration of Estates

 

  • Execution of Estates in line with the Bank’s policies and procedures, relevant acts as well as the regulations of the Estates
  • Interpretation and application of the relevant legislation applicable.
  • Attend to litigation process relating to court case
  • Adhere to Turn Around Times as per the Trust and Estate process and procedure manuals
  • Ensure that data is captured and updated on the relevant systems
  • Monthly report to Assistant Manager on estates regarding status of estate
  • Administration of estate portfolio up to 65 estates
  • Ensure correct data captured on Liquidation and Distribution accounts
  • Ensure correct data captured on Legal Ease

Financial Management

  • Ensure that fees are recovered according to set targets
  • Ensure no losses are incurred
  • Ensure correct data captured on cash reconciliations and fee slips

Customer Service

·         Ensure that internal and external customers are assisted in a professional manner, provided with accurate information about the Bank’s and the department’s products and services and correctly referred

·         Monthly feedback to beneficiaries and brokers regarding the status of estates

·         Ahere to 24 hours turnaround time for queries and e-mails

·         Adhere to commitments made to clients

 

Sales/Growth

  • Responsible for identifying selling/cross-selling opportunities related to estates and refer such opportunities and leads to the correct person, department or branch involved

·         Participating in sales campaigns related to the unit

  • Responsible for sales and cross selling  as per target for unit

 

Risk Management

·         Effective Risk management by following to the correct policies, procedures and processes

    General

·         Any other reasonable and lawful instruction as given to the Assistant Manager by the Manager Trust and Estates

Minimum requirements

Qualifications
• Matric (Grade 12) 
• A qualification in Deceased Estates or equivalent qualification
• Bachelor’s degree in law will be an added advantage
 
Experience/Knowledge & Skills
•    5 years of estates administration experienc
·        Knowledge of relevant legislation applicable to estates, wills and trusts
·         Extensive experience of LegalEase software
·         Reconciliations and Microsoft Applications
·         Driver’s Licence code 08
