Introduction
The Head: Procurement is responsible for overall entity and Group wide procurement strategy, ensuring implementation and compliance with policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements. The strategic objective is to make use of best practice to establish and transform the procurement function into a centre of excellence.
Job description

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

1.     Procurement

·  Oversee the management and control of the Bank’s procurement process in terms of best practices, systems and controls.

·        Develop and execute new improved procurement strategies across all channels of purchasing.

·  Creation and improvement of best practice processes for sourcing, contracting, supplier relationship management and procure to pay.

·  Be the in-house procurement expert, providing advice and guidance to colleagues on all procurement matters.

·    Overall responsible for the issuance, update and control of the Bank’s procurement policy and procedures and to oversee its application.

·       Proactively build, develop and maintain valuable relationships with key stakeholders.

·        Manage every aspect of the supply chain.

·   Develop supplier relationships and ensure implementation of effective supplier management practices in conjunction with contract management and business partners.

·   Monitor suppliers’ performance, ensure service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met, and drive improvement.

·        Identification and realization of cost saving and cost reductions opportunities

·        Budget management for categories under management and procurement itself

 

2.  People Management

·        Excellent stakeholder and people management skills; demonstrating the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

·       Capacity to form and maintain good working relationships with a wide network of internal and external stakeholders.

·        Manage the skill and competency development of procurement staff including training development and knowledge management capabilities.

·        Management of procurement staff in (and across) sourcing, contracting, transactional purchasing, supplier management, and miscellaneous internal procurement support activities.

 

3.  Communication

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to translate complex procurement issues into layman’s terms for non-specialist audiences.

·        Presentation and communication to Board and Executive Procurement committees

Experience/Knowledge and skills

·        8 years working experience of which 3 should be at a managerial level.

·        Extensive experience in procurement ideally in the financial services industry.

·        Knowledge of sourcing and vendor management methodologies.

·        Excellent analysis skills, strategic mind-set, capable of prioritizing and making trade-offs.

Minimum requirements

Qualification

·        At least a bachelor's degree in supply Chain management, Economics, Finance, Operations or a related area.
